Just to clarify, this isn’t a list of my favourite all time books (I’ll have to write up one of those at some stage…) but rather a list of books that I have read in the past few years and the lessons they taught me. Books have this fantastic way of informing us about people, places, things or simply just ourselves. They make us more sympathetic and open minded towards the world. So here is my list of fantastic books/pieces of literature and what I learned from them. Hope you enjoy…
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K Rowling: Love is stronger than hate
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling: When you find people in your life who are kind to you, keep them around and be kind back
Persuasion by Jane Austen: You are not defined by how rich or successful you are, but in your character and how you treat others
Amazinger Face by Zoe Foster Blake: Look after yourself
The Wonder of Us by Kim Culbertson: Don’t keep score in any type of relationship, it isn’t a game of who is better. Also a friendship doesn’t have to be 24/7 to be strong
The Girl in the Steel Capped Boots by Loretta Hill: Work hard and persevere, it will always make you stronger and better
Air Kisses by Zoe Foster Blake: When a relationship ends, sometimes work lifts you back up
Yes Please by Amy Poehler: Be whoever you are. And don’t worry too much, everyone is just as scared as you most of the time
Bridge Burning by Kitty Flanagan: Relax with the insecurities, you are hot
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: Always fight for the things you believe in, even if you don’t know that it will work
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald: Be content in yourself and what you are doing
The Younger Man by Zoe Foster Blake: Be open minded, it's important
Playing the Field by Zoe Foster Blake: If you lose yourself, remember what your passions are and stay true to them
The Game Changers by Samantha Brett: Projects take a lot of time and a lot of effort, be patient with the process and fight the little joys in it
Pride and Prejudice By Jane Austen: Don’t immediately judge someone without trying to fully understand them firstIs
Everyone Hanging out Without Me? By Mindy Kaling: For the most part your teen years aren’t going to be like they play out on American TV shows. There is nothing wrong with that
The Wrong Girl by Zoe Foster Blake: Embrace change, you’ll feel better for it
The Girl in the Hard Hat by Loretta Hill: Focus on what you need to do and what’s good for you
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K Rowling: Sometimes you have to choose what is right over what it easy
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling: It’ll be okay
Hope you liked my list. What have you learned from your favourite books?
